Producer and Editor of Diverse Joy® Podcast
Responsibilities also include branding, videography, and promotional photography
Diverse Joy® is co-hosted by Dr. William T. L. Cox and Dr. Amber, with an occasional guest related to the main topic of discussion for that episode. Past guest have included Valeria Martinez, Esq. (shown above), an immigration attorney; Sandy Eichel, a transgender nonbinary person who is a public speaker on the topic of creating an authentic and inclusive culture, they’ve been on the show to discuss trans* and nonbinary identities in one episode as well as “What is ‘Professional’ Anyway?” in another; and Nicki Vander Meulen, Esq. a lawyer focused on disability issues and the first-ever openly autistic person to be elected to a school board in the United States, she has been on the show twice, to discuss disability desegregation in schools, as well as how accommodations helps everyone (you know how you enjoy using curb cuts? Thank the Americans with Disabilities Act for that). Future guests include educator Bernie Hoes, who’ll be discussing “living Black history” in our February 2025 episode. [This paragraph includes links the video versions of the episodes mentioned, via YouTube, but if you’re interested in the audio-only version of the show, you can go to directly to specific episodes (and learn more about the show) at DiverseJoy.com, or by following the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, or Amazon Music.]
For each episode the show: I prep the studio and light the guests; set up the recording equipment, both video and audio; record the show’s visuals and capture the audio; help keep the guests on track during recording; provide real-time fact checking and additional research; and occasionally chime in with my own relevant thoughts. After the record session, I compiled all the assets and edit the show (and incorporate our great theme music by Jar Arner), working with the hosts for final edits and tweaks, and then prepare the files for distribution.

My duties (they’re too fun to call responsibilities?) also include taking promotional photography of the hosts and guest for each episode, usually on location to help add variety to the marketing materials for the show (which includes location scouting, which is itself pretty fun), creating Reels to share on social media, and helping to raise awareness of the show in general - including getting the show submitted for consideration for Apple Podcast’s New & Noteworthy feature, which it was in late 2024!
Prior to being featured in the New & Noteworthy feature, Diverse Joy® podcast had been ranked in the top 15% of all podcasts globally, but afterwards, we cracked into the 10%!

Additionally, to help support the show, I designed the logo and branding, create merchandise (including the mugs the hosts and guests use on camera, with each guest getting to keep their mug), and layout collateral such as the large format poster shown below, which Dr. Cox uses at his speaking engagements to help bring awareness to the show.
